Sources of Funding
CAT relies on three major sources for funding:
- Passenger Revenue
Passenger revenue ranges from 12-17% of CAT's operating funds. This is relatively standard in the industry for systems our size in this region.
- Local Governments
Appropriations from local governments represent CAT's largest single source of revenue.
- Federal Government
Federal contributions to transit systems represent a small percentage of funds which over the last 20 years have been shrinking. CATA is able to divert a portion of its Capital Funds to Preventive Maintenance costs in the operating budget.
