Your safety is our top priority
The safety of our customers and employees, motorists and pedestrians is very important to the Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA).
CATA has no history of violent acts taking place on its buses.
Here are a few of the steps we take to ensure your safety:
- CATA is a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
- All applicants for employment at CATA undergo background and reference checks.
- Applicants for safety-sensitive positions undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and DMV checks. Once employed, random drug and alcohol testing applies.
- All buses are equipped with video and audio surveillance equipment.
- Bus and paratransit operators maintain radio contact with CATA's Dispatch Office
- Buses and bike racks are inspected regularly to ensure proper maintenance and operating condition.
- CATA has field supervisors monitoring bus performance during service hours.
- Uniformed off-dty LRPD officers provide security at the River Cities Travel Center during all hours of operation.
- The lobby and grounds of the Travel Center are under video surveillance.
- A Transit Etiquette Policy has been implementing to provide standards of conduct for all of our customers.
- These are a few of the measures we take to make your bus ride a safe experience.
