Rail Technology Options

A wide range of passenger rail mode or technology options exists that could potentially be used to provide major transportation improvements in the Central Arkansas region. Below are the candidate modes that are considered feasible for initial consideration in the corridor. The list was developed after review of other recent comparable urban rail projects and after initial review by the project's Steering Committee. The "long list" of rail modes proposed for consideration in the Central Arkansas region (listed in rough order of lowest to highest cost per mile) are:
